Each year she took her students to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. She was a longtime volunteer there and chaired its Evening Division of Friends. Rask recalls one of her sister's students who, while waiting in a doctor's office, pointed out two paintings on the wall to his mother.

In the 1960s, she was a charter member of Minnesota Teachers for Change, a reform movement that supported multiculturalism education for teachers. Longtime educator and community volunteer Marjorie G. Erickson-Geisler taught more than 1,500 students during her 36-year career in the St. Louis Park school system.

Johnson, 83, a biochemist who helped develop food products from soybeans, died Friday in Milwaukee of congestive heart failure. Johnson worked as a laboratory technician until 1954 when he began marketing soy protein concentrates for food. Born in Nelson, he spent his childhood in Maiden Rock, earned a doctorate at the University of Minnesota in 1941 and worked for Pillsbury Co. in Minneapolis, Diversey Corp. of Chicago and the Chemdurgy Division of Glidden Co.

He became president in 1973 of Food Ingredients Inc. and a consultant for the United Nations, helping develop laboratories in more than 40 nations. He later became president of Geltech Inc. of Golden Valley. A private service is scheduled to be held in Ten Mile Lake, Minn.

Gary Thomas Rowe 64, an FBI informer who infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan during the 1960s and helped convict three Klansmen accused of killing a civil rights volunteer, died of a heart attack May 25 in Savannah, his hometown. Under the federal witness protection program, Rowe had assumed the name of Thomas Neal Moore, under which he members said. Although he had no formal training in photography, he found it more intriguing than architecture, and as his interest grew, so did his skill.
