Manufacturers of ‘smart’ devices – such as smart speakers and doorbells – must comply with a new UK law that sets out to make such products more secure – a move we welcome as a company that knows only too well about cyber security and how it’s a big factor in working from home.As explained here by the NCSC, the Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure act (or PSTI act) means such manufacturers must not, for example, use default passwords that are easy for hackers to guess.While there does seem to be some question marks over details such as products sold by online retailers, it’s definitely a step in the right direction. And we think this is also an important move for companies with employees who are based at home.
