Fort Myers News-Press, Saturday, July 6, 1985 Neo-Nazi calls attacks 'youthful mistake' BELLE GLADE (AP) A NeoNazi group accused of attacking blacks with pellet guns and a spiked ax handle was "just a bunch of young boys" who made a mistake, a member said after being released on bond. But the black mayor of neighboring South Bay, Clarence Anthony, said Friday he was "totally shocked that there is such an organization in the Glades area," and called for a full investigation of the case. Nine members of the racist White Patriots Party, including two guards at the Glades Correctional Institute and a juvenile, have been arrested this week on charges of conspiring to commit aggravated battery. According to a police affidavit filed in the case, the men had fired a pellet gun into a fast-food restaurant where blacks worked.
