I'm going to give a rare compliment to the Biden administration

Thus far, I think the Biden's response to what happened last night has been appropriate and has set the proper tone. From calling Trump personally, to condemning the violence, to calling for unity, to assuring the public that there will be a full independent investigation. I can't think of any way up to this point in time that he should be handling it any differently.

I'll bet Biden was personally shaken by what happened, because if it happened to Trump, it could just as easily happen to him.

Biden, in his own way, is at least partially extending an olive branch. And for that I give him full credit.

I'll somewhat return the favor - if this can be used to turn the political discourse in this country around, the photo of Trump defiantly putting his fist in the air will become iconic, like George W. Bush and Bob Beckwith in the twin towers rubble.

I think it is a satisfactory and expected response that any American president, outside of one, would have given in the same circumstance. Biden is simply doing his job, and what best suits him politically.

And I think you are kidding yourself, Matt if you think this will change any discourse in the country around. We are fractured beyond repair. Let's wait and hear Trump's acceptance speech in a few days before we kumbaya.

I tend to agree with Honeyman's latter comment. Just go read through the comment section of that video. Almost universally, commenters are suggesting that Biden's rhetoric before yesterday was what led up to it and that he's a hypocrite now for saying what he's saying. Which, while that argument raises a valid point about Biden's recent rhetoric, it also illustrates that (at least Trump supporters anyways) don't want to budge.

I will disagree with the assertion that Biden's response is at all taking politics into consideration. This is a rare instance where I think Biden's comments genuinely reflect how he feels. I could be wrong, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on that.

I agree that Bidens response is genuine. My point is that it happens to be what is politically best for him at this time also. He eliminated a bunch of TV attack ads as well. Why? Because it was the proper...and politically correct thing to do.

The ones that scare me are the people who may very well think Biden ordered it or whatever. There may be a lot of Russian trolls and what not out trying to get a good conspiracy going. Obviously the president isn’t gonna send some untrained 20 year old…

“Today is not just some isolated incident. The central premise of the Biden campaign is that President Donald Trump is an authoritarian fascist who must be stopped at all costs. That rhetoric led directly to President Trump’s attempted assassination,” J.D. Vance posted on X, formerly called Twitter, shortly after the incident Saturday.

Vance is at least partially correct. Listen to Biden's remarks from his campaign rally at Renaissance High School from Friday evening. There were some incendiary remarks made.

It is unclear if rhetoric from the Biden campaign or anyone else's rhetoric influenced the shooter's motives or not. Vance and others are jumping to conclusions prematurely on that point.

Perhaps the shooter was simply disgusted with his life and the world and acted out of general vengeance. He might've committed an act of terror for the sheer, sick joy of doing so. The fact it happened to be a Trump rally and not a Biden rally could be irrelevant.

It’s unclear exactly how the shooter felt about much of anything… a registered Republican that made a single donation to a progressive cause in the past.. not much to work off of. What we need is a manifesto or some other documentation that indicates why he may have snapped. It would be deeply ironic if Trump says all kinds of things all the time for 8 years and not much happens besides the Paul Pelosi thing and the softball shooting and then Biden gets more aggressive once and causes an assassination attempt.

My suspicion is the shooter was just looking to cause general misery, and the rhetoric spouted by either candidate or their allies was irrelevant to his actions.

I could be proven completely wrong.

I do think it’s possible that it could’ve all been staged from DJT. “All hell will break loose”, 2 days before convention, right before a VP Pick, the Secret Service choosing to ignore a guy with a gun on a roof…it all still doesn’t add up to me. Also several people reported that the teleprompter glass is what caused the ear injury.

They/them, non-binary and proud.

Remember that “2000 Mules” was concocted by a circus of elephants.
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

Can’t a guy just get shot at by another guy in peace without conspiracy theories at every turn?

So the guy that died and the 2 that were seriously injured - that's all fake?

You must be trolling. Because no person who goes and watches that video could possibly come to the conclusion that this was staged.

There are some things that don't yet add up, but come on. Your suggestion is so far beyond utterly ridiculous and I almost didn't even respond to it.
