In 2022, we brought home Lyric from ReRun Thoroughbred Adoption in hopes that he would be accepted and participate in the Retired Racehorse Project in 2023.Retraining a young horse from one career to another takes time and patient. It’s made a lot easier with a willing participant as well. Lyric spent 2022 “resetting” and growing. He was restarted in December learning to jump and be a show horse. The process is just that, a process. There are ups and downs, successes and failures, but with each of these is growth and another stepping stone to being better. There will be days you want to toss in your hat and there are days you want to scream for joy.Through all the emotions at the end of the day comes great satisfaction that you were able to take a young horse and teach him new things all while forming a bond that is inseparable. Lyric is that. He is starting to show his career path bringing home wonderful ribbons and many compliments.RRP 2023 will be held in KY in October and I cannot wait to see how it goes. Never give up, practice patience, and if the first time didn’t work, re-evaluate the process you took and see if there is a better one or change the communications. All things to learn in every day life. #project #growth #learning
